I'm a sucker for a good toile.
Funny, right? Have you ever heard anyone say that before? Me neither. But it's true. I absolutely love toile.
I can't spell it correctly half the time (my autocorrect seems to prefer toilet paper), but I've always loved those beautiful, old-fashioned country scenes I grew up with on furniture and wallpaper.
So this Christmas, I decided to design my own.
I knew exactly what I wanted. A horse-drawn sleigh, a cozy country home, Christmas trees, traditional Christmas reds and golds, and a few twinkling stars. And if the sleigh happened to be dashing through the snow, even better!
So naturally, I headed to the North Pole for a little help from Santa's elves and stylists.
Okay, maybe not.
But I absolutely love what we created.
And while I was designing it, I kept thinking about something else from my childhood.
Do you remember A Charlie Brown Christmas? Especially that wonderful moment when Linus explains what Christmas is really all about?
I can still hear his voice and the music. It takes me right back to watching it as a little girl, and then years later watching it with my own children.
The memories, the traditions, the simple things we love about Christmas. That's what I wanted to capture in this print.
And my biggest hope? That someday it becomes a Christmas tradition in your home, too. Something you and your daughters, granddaughters, or the whole family look forward to bringing out every December.
Wouldn't that be wonderful?
