Why we left cashmere.
We loved our reversible cashmere jackets, but the cashmere boom was stripping Mongolia's grasslands bare. So we stopped making them.
Alpaca gave us everything we loved and more: just as soft and warm, light on the land, with fleece that grows back every year.
Ward… I can't find the convention hall.
A trip to Peru for an alpaca show that turned out to be 600 miles away, a very bumpy taxi ride, and a fairground full of “BREEDER” badges led us to a tent of Peruvian artisans doing extraordinary things with alpaca. A year later, here it is.
