When I sat down to design my new Hearts & Arrows print, I knew it would be a challenge. Heart prints are everywhere—many of them lovely—so why even try? Simple, I felt I had something unique to add.
I knew from the start this print had to be more than just hearts. I wanted arrows too, but not piercing hearts like every other image you’ve seen. My arrows would be in flight—because isn’t that how we are when searching for love? Always moving, always aiming.
With the concept clear, it was time to focus on color and style. I don’t wear much red, but I wanted a shade soft enough to feel tender, like watercolor, yet bold enough to stand out. That’s how I landed on this red. For the arrows, I made an unexpected choice: gold.
I never wear gold—it clashes with my gray hair, and I always lean toward silver. But gold felt right for this design. To me, gold represents the intention of love: bold, radiant, full of purpose. It took countless iterations to balance the red and gold, but when I saw the final version, it felt just right.
Launching it near Valentine’s Day made sense, but the truth is, this print is about more than a holiday. Hearts & Arrows reflects how I want to live: seeking love, giving it, receiving it—every day. And now, I have a design that reminds me of that intention every time I see it.
